SPREAD A LITTLE PEACE
PATIENTS, visitors and staff can pay a special visit to the hospital chapel to welcome the arrival of a ‘Peace Light’ brought all the way from Bethlehem.
The candle will be delivered to the Chapel of the Good Samaritan at the James Cook University Hospital on Wednesday 16 December at 12.45pm where it will continue to burn until Epiphany on 6 January 2010.
Organised by the Scouts from the fourth South Bank Group, the journey of the peace light begins in Bethlehem in the cave beneath the Church of Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus. The light is taken by a Palestinian child and handed to an Israeli scout at the border. It is then flown to Vienna from where it is distributed to all European countries and further afield.
The ceremony will take place at 12.45pm on Wednesday 16 December. This light will remain in the hospital chapel until Epiphany.
The trust’s lead chaplain Malcolm Masterman said: “The aim of the campaign is to reach as many people as possible, to bring them the light and the message of peace, which encourages everyone, but especially Scouts and Guides, to actively create peace in their environment
