ANDREW NICHOLSON IN PRIME POSITION

TO DEFEND HIS TITLE AT BRAMHAM

After two full days of dressage at Bramham International Horse Trials, New Zealander Andrew Nicholson is in the lead in the Senior CCI*** Competition on Ginger May Killinghurst with a score of 42.7, Pippa Funnell is lying in second place on Ensign with a score of 44.0 and John Paul Sheffield is in third place on Crown Farm Consort with a score of 46.7.  Overnight leader Nicola Wilson from Yorkshire has slipped to equal sixth place.  World Champion Zara Phillips is currently lying in equal 44th place.

In the Bishop Burton Under 25 CCI*** Amy Young leads on Mrs Anne Young’s Highville with a score of 50.2 and Oliver Smith lies in second place riding The Magic Moment with Georgie Davies, last years winner of this competition, on Hugo’s There III on third place.

Oliver Townend leads off on the cross country starting at 10.00am tomorrow morning.  The first riders on the course are the Under 25 competitors, with the seniors following on from 12.12pm.  Sue Benson’s course of 29 fences offers a mix of straight forward fences and combinations all of which will test the horse and rider partnership in a good flowing course.  Full dressage results and cross country times can be found on the Bramham website – www.bramham-horse.co.uk.

The sunny weather today resulted in over 4,000 spectators coming through the gates enjoying the dressage, the Burghley Young Event Horse competition and, of course, the shopping opportunities at the many trade stands.
